Tilt: Helping people have productive lifestyles

Scene: YouTube (457K). Instagram (77.9K) newsletter (20+K); Vlog Like a Boss, Good Morning to Life books; 365 Days of Good Morning Good Life planner; speaking; Facebook (36K)

Snack Bites:

  • Four years after quitting college, Amy found a great home on YouTube for her productivity lifestyle content. More than a decade later, she has 457K subscribers and an expanded content business.
  • Amy focused on one revenue stream at a time. After adding speaking to that lineup, she saw an opportunity to author a book related to her topics.
  • She says the key to her multiple-channel success is the audience. She grounds everything she does around them and listens for new opportunities.

Why We Stan: Amy isn’t a get-rich-quick entrepreneur. She’s taken the time to grow her successful business, only expanding when she (and her audience) are ready for the next step.

The Story of Amy Landino

Amy Landino’s story came to the top of our profile list after she shared her content business lessons with CNBC, and they married perfectly with what The Tilt advocates.

Amy’s entrepreneurial story began during the financial crisis of 2007 when she dropped out of college. Four years later, she was making videos for her Amy TV channel on YouTube. Today, her content empire includes that YouTube channel with over 457K subscribers, three books, speaking engagements, partnerships, and more.

A few years ago, she told Business Insider that her team includes an executive assistant, content manager, video editor/YouTube consultant, podcast editor, and graphic designer who creates Instagram and Twitter graphics. According to her website, Amy’s speaking engagements are booked through VaynerSpeaks

What’s led to her success? “The key thing I think we are all doing in business is to make everyone try to feel special,” she said in the Business Insider interview. “The only way to do that is to make it feel like you are really talking to them. If you can accomplish that through media, you can create a very dedicated and loyal audience – that’s business.”

Amy also deliberately focuses on one platform before starting another. She started with YouTube before expanding to one-on-one consulting. Around 2015, she added speaking to her revenue streams, which led her to realize she had the content to write a book.

She explains her process to CNBC: “Only after I had a proven, profitable system did I consider expanding into other revenue streams. This patient, methodical approach meant each new venture had a stronger foundation built on real experience and success.”

That discipline also applies to Amy’s systematic sales engine. She sees the potential for one thing to leverage multiple. She shares an example in the CNBC article. She published a video, How To Plan a Productive September. The content attracts an audience, leading to $1.1K in ad revenue, and it promotes her product, the Good Morning, Good Life digital planner.

Her well-designed website speaks to her audience and clearly explains her content tilt. She writes, “When you focus on what’s important, you’ll find it’s possible to live a full life! Including a thriving career, mind-blowing travel, memorable family moments, mindful activities, true friendship, and so, so much love!”

Amy estimates she earns about $18K a month with her passive income streams. She tells CNBC, “Building passive income isn’t about finding a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s about creating valuable content and products that continue generating revenue long after the initial work is done.”

Frankly, whether you call it “passive income” or not, the sustainable revenue model is essential for all successful content businesses.
