The Tilt Mission

The Tilt is for serious content creators. We help content creators grow full-time, independent media businesses that don’t rely on social media platforms. These content entrepreneurs develop, grow, and monetize audiences through content products such as newsletters, podcasts, courses, communities, and Web3/token projects.

Mission execution

The Tilt teaches content entrepreneurs how to grow audiences and communities, create diverse revenue streams, and handle their business operations (legal, payments, staffing, etc.).  The Tilt publishes a free twice weekly newsletter with how-to features, creator case studies and relevant news, and hosts the annual Creator Economy Expo (CEX). The Tilt community gathers online in its dedicated Discord channel.

Our goal is to help one million content creators become financially-independent content entrepreneurs.

Side projects, side hustles and hobby content work are fine, but let’s be serious … you want to transform your content creation skills into something powerful and independent (cue music here). You want financial freedom. You want to build something other people will buy, right?

We believe in the next five years, the fastest-growing startups will be the content entrepreneur.

Don’t you want to be one of them?

We’re eager to help you along that crazy ride.

We created The Tilt so you can go big with audience-building and revenue-generating strategies. (Yep, people + money = successful content entrepreneur.) You’ll hear directly from content entrepreneurs making it happen (In the boring corporate world they call them case studies).

What’s the story of The Tilt?

Joe Pulizzi, founder of The Tilt, wrote an intriguing book seven years ago — Content Inc. It’s about building a content business. The important step in the Content Inc. business model is The Content Tilt.

What is the Content Tilt you ask?

The Tilt is the differentiator chosen by the content entrepreneur. It’s what makes their content stand out. (In business terms, it’s called a competitive advantage.) It might be a niche audience, a different format, a name change, an obsession with a color (we love orange).

It’s like Neo in The Matrix who has to “tilt” his head to look at the spoon differently in order to bend it. To bend your content, you need to tilt your view.

Without Neo’s tilt, all is lost. Without The Tilt, you may get lost on the content entrepreneur journey. With The Tilt, you’ll get a guide on your path to content entrepreneurial prosperity.

Laura Kozak, VP of Operations

Laura Kozak is in charge of overall operations management at The Tilt. She previously worked for the Content Marketing Institute for 10 years, handling digital, production, and event operations.

She is looking forward to building another company from the ground up and helping content entrepreneurs on their journey. Her biggest challenge right now is learning all about crypto and $TILT coin!

Dave Anthony, IT Director

Dave’s role is primarily “behind the scenes”, making sure that our IT infrastructure is running in top shape. That includes managing the servers, systems, and related vendors that support all of The Tilt’s technical efforts.

What he really loves is taking the brilliant concepts from other team members and turning them into something tangible that benefits our visitors and fans.
